Authenticity and Self-compassion – the greatest tools for success.
“Break Free From Expectations And Live Authentically.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
The term ‘authentic’ is used either in the strong sense of being “of undisputed origin or authorship”, or in a weaker sense of being “faithful to an original” or a “reliable, accurate representation”. So in plain simple language being authentic speaks to knowing yourself and showing up each day as yourself with no compromise.
It is easy for a person to fall into the trap of performance to fit roles that others expect of them. But this leads to emotional exhaustion were frustration then manifests as inconsistency, self-destruction, and even dissatisfaction with life due to lack of originality. Even in a movie, series or stage production, there comes a time when a performance in a role is done and the actor has to step out of the scripted character into their truest self. Every career also comes to an end at a certain age and one has to then deal with their authentic self without a title or job description.
So if we do not come to know and embrace ourselves as evolving beings in need of our own constant support and compassion, we will struggle to live successful lives which go beyond just accumulation of materialistic possessions but one of contentment and peace within oneself. Oftentimes performing can seem appealing because it can help a person cope with core emotional wounds, express subconscious needs, and pursue conscious goals without accountability or commitment. This can feel like protection and safety, where one isn’t exactly putting themselves out there for scrutiny and criticism if they fail.
Colossians 3:12_ "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
However, if we always hide we will never discover ourselves and truly grow. There is beauty in starting over and over because after each time a person fails they rebuilt from greater wisdom. The resilience and agility that is developed during the rebuilding stage in one’s life feeds into strengthening one’s character, preparing them for greater impact and sustainable success.
May God’s grace upon you.
